Essential Home Repairs

Our full-time professional tradesmen carry out urgent home repairs at no cost for Israel’s poorest citizens: Holocaust survivors, immigrants, physically impaired adults, single mothers and more. Day after day, our teams fix leaky roofs and plumbing, replace dangerous kitchens and electrical wiring, make bathrooms accessible and repair and paint crumbling walls. We find that a clean, dry and warm environment is a “hand-up” that kick-starts positive momentum and change.

Social Work

Our social workers reach out to each member of the family, connecting them with community and municipal resources in the areas of employment, health, financial planning, parental guidance and welfare. In this way, we help families establish the stable platform that begins the journey towards stability and sustainability.

Our History

Tenufa Bakehila – Building Hope was started 25 years ago by Gabi Nachmani as a community action home repair program within another organization.

In 2014, Tenufa Bakehila became an independent entity. Today, our work crews are active in 12 cities: Jerusalem, Kiryat Gat, Kiryat Malachi, Ashkelon, Binyamina, Hatzor, Beit Shemesh, Hadera, Or Akiva, Ramla, Lod,  and Pardes Hanna. In all locations, we stretch available funding by soliciting contributions of materials and services from civic-minded contractors and suppliers.
